The Neighborhood Awakens!
We definitely had plans when we moved to this place. It's not a large home, but it has room enough for our family. The neighborhood is lined with sidewalks physically connecting our families. We had plans to sit out with glasses of iced tea in the evenings, savoring the breeze, and watching our kids play with the other neighborhood kids. I planned to go on walks, pushing Daniel in the stroller while Alyssa follows on her bike. We organized the garage, giving Alyssa a great place to store toys and play. Unfortunately, our extremely hot Texas summer has chased us indoors for months. Before that, Daniel seemed to be sick with every possible cold and flu symptom, and record snowfalls shut our town down for several days. No tea-sipping on the porch. No evening strolls. No playing outside.
But tonight-- what a beautiful evening! Cooler temperatures and a light breeze...the scent of grilling burgers...the giggling squeals of the neighborhood children riding bikes in the street...grown-ups chatting from lawn chairs in the driveways! It was so great to see our neighborhood come to life again. I think it's walking season again!
